Harvia electrical servicing

Specialist electrical servicing for Harvia equipment.

BSC Wellness works with a dedicated electrical contractor, an independent business and a Harvia-authorised service agent, who carries out our electrical servicing. A fault in a Harvia heater, control or steam generator is diagnosed by someone who knows the equipment, with the sauna and steam specialists behind the original design on hand.

As the Queensland agent for Harvia, we keep the most common genuine Harvia spare parts in stock at our Noosaville factory. Others are ordered as required, by air or sea freight depending on urgency and availability. For Harvia equipment we have supplied, we provide after-sales support and help with warranty claims. Tell us the make, model and what is happening, and we will confirm stock, availability and the best way to order, and arrange the right next step.

What we look after

Servicing, repairs and maintenance.

  1. 01

    Heater fault diagnosis

Heaters that won’t heat, heat slowly or keep tripping are diagnosed and repaired by the dedicated electrical contractor we work with, including elements, contactors and wiring.

  2. 02

    Controls and sensors

Control panels, temperature sensors and timers checked, and replaced with compatible parts where they have failed.

  3. 03

    Sauna stones

Stones inspected, restacked or replaced with the type and size the heater’s manual specifies, so air flows freely and the elements run cooler.

  4. 04

    Steam generators

Descaling, drain and flush checks, and sensor and valve servicing, following the generator manufacturer’s schedule.

  5. 05

    Replacement equipment and parts

Heaters, controls, stones and sauna fittings, selected to suit the room and the existing installation.

Preventative maintenance

Small checks prevent closures.

Most sauna and steam faults are predictable: crumbled stones, scale in a steam generator, a sensor knocked out of place. Regular checks catch them before they stop the room. They matter most in commercial facilities, where rooms run for many hours a day. If you operate a commercial sauna or steam room, talk to us about what your rooms need.

  • Stones inspected and restacked or replaced as the heater manual specifies
  • Steam generators descaled and flushed to their manufacturer’s schedule
  • Controls, sensors and safety devices checked
  • Benches, door hardware and seals inspected
  • Plant and service access kept clear for the next visit

For owners and operators

Why the manufacturer’s care steps matter.

What Harvia’s manuals ask of owners, and the reason behind each step. The manual for your equipment governs.
  1. 01

    Stones settle and crumble

Heating and cooling break stones down, fastest in the first couple of months. Harvia asks for them to be rearranged at least once a year, more often with frequent use, with fragments cleared and broken stones replaced. Why it matters: packed or crumbled stones choke the airflow through the heater, so the room heats slowly, the stones cool quickly when water is thrown, and the elements run hotter.

  2. 02

An overheat trip has a cause

The overheat protector cuts the heater’s supply when the room gets dangerously hot, and it stays off until it is reset. Harvia lists crumbled or compacted stones, a heater left on unused for a long time, a displaced or broken sensor, or a knock to the heater as causes to check. The reset is inside the heater or the control’s sensor box, and only someone authorised for electrical work may press it. Why it matters: resetting without finding the cause lets the same fault happen again.

  3. 03

    Let the steam generator flush

Many generators drain and flush themselves after use: with Harvia’s automatic discharge valve, the unit drains and rinses for about five minutes after it is switched off at the control. Switch off at the control, not at the isolator, which cuts the power before the flush can run. Scale still builds with use, so generators are also descaled by the manufacturer’s own method; Harvia uses citric acid, while some other makers forbid chemical descalers. Why it matters: mineral-laden water left in the tank scales the elements and level sensor, steam output drops, and warranties depend on the water and service conditions being met.

  4. 04

Controls and sensors run the room

The control acts on what its sensor reads. A sensor knocked out of place, or one sitting in a draught from a vent, makes the room run too hot or too cool and can trip the overheat protector. Timer and app starts depend on a door switch or a heater cover sensor above the heater (or a heater certified to the covering test the control’s manual names), and some Harvia controls block a timed or remote start for 6 hours after the heater was last switched off. Why it matters: when remote start stops working, the safety device is often doing its job, and it should never be bypassed.

Before you call

How a service request works.

Most requests start with a few details and a photo or two. That is usually enough for us to point you to the right next step.

  1. 01

    Tell us what is happening

The equipment, the room and the fault, by phone or through the enquiry form. Mention whether it is a home or commercial installation.

From youThe heater or generator make and model from its label, photos of the room, the equipment and any fault codes, and when it started.

  2. 02

    We review it

We look at the details and advise on the next step. Sometimes that is as simple as checking the stones or the control settings.

  3. 03

    Electrical servicing

Electrical faults are diagnosed and repaired by the dedicated electrical contractor we work with, an independent business and a Harvia-authorised service agent.

  4. 04

    Parts and equipment

Compatible replacement parts, stones or equipment are identified to suit the existing installation.

  5. 05

    Keeping it running

We recommend the maintenance that will keep the room working, following the equipment manufacturer’s schedule.

Questions

Common questions

Who carries out the electrical servicing?

Our electrical servicing is carried out by a dedicated electrical contractor who works with us: an independent business and a Harvia-authorised service agent. Sauna heaters, controls and steam generators are electrical appliances, so faults are always diagnosed and repaired by a licensed electrician rather than an owner.

My sauna heater has stopped heating or keeps tripping. What should I do?

Switch it off and don’t keep resetting it. Common causes include a failed element, a tripped overheat protector, a faulty control or sensor, or crumbled stones blocking the airflow. Harvia’s overheat reset sits inside the heater or the control’s sensor box and is for someone authorised for electrical work, once the cause has been found. Send us the heater make and model, a photo of the label and what is happening, and we will advise on the next step.

How often should a sauna heater be serviced?

Follow the heater manufacturer’s instructions. Harvia asks for the stones to be rearranged at least once a year, more often with frequent use, with broken stones replaced. Commercial heaters run for far longer each day and need much more frequent attention.

My steam room is producing less steam. What should I check?

Scale build-up in the generator is a common cause, especially with hard water. Generators need descaling on their manufacturer’s schedule, and switching them off at the isolator after use can stop the automatic flush. Harvia generators show a service indicator after 200 operating hours, and Harvia asks for a full service at least twice a year where a generator is in community or institutional use. A service visit can check the generator, sensor and drain.
