What the sauna is all about
As you no doubt know, saunas are an age old innovation from the Scandinavian countries, devised to promote good health and vigor. The principle is simple yet effective. The western red cedar panelled room is electronically heated to the desired temperature using special volcanic rocks adjusted to personal preference by pouring water over the stones. The temperature is very hot, between 60-110 degrees Celsius, but the dry air ensures that the atmosphere in the sauna is very pleasant. Perspiration is stimulated and the pores of the skin cleansed, but because of the very low humidity the perspiration evaporates and keeps the skin cool.
Combine a sauna with your spa or cedar hot tub and you have probably the most complete environment to relax and rejuvenate in.
Western red cedar is a remarkable timber that grows in the dense, damp temperature of Canada’s pacific coast forest and provides one of the most perfect timbers for building. It weathers well, it’s virtually impervious to pests and rot. The natural oils inherent in western red cedar make it ideal for saunas and hot tubs, not only is it attractive, aromatic and easy to create excellent carpentry, but high temperatures do not affect it.
Saunas can be built as a portable or custom built on site to any size or design, indoor or outdoor.
What the steam room is all about
A lifestyle dating back to the ancient history where cold water pools with steam baths became commonplace all over Greece and later spread to Rome. The relaxing luxury of the Roman or Turkish bath in the modern home is now available thanks to modern technology.
A steam room can be tiled or a modular structure incorporating a shower and body jets on the wall. It also would have a glass door or a full glass front. Our modular steam room is superior quality reinforced fibreglass designed to withstand heat and moisture providing a hygienic, easy to clean, hard wearing surface.
The benefits of a Steam bath
In todays society, our way of lice subjects us to stress both consciously and unconsciously and there is a need to take care of our minds and bodies by regular recreation and relaxation. The steam bath like the sauna is one of the most effective ways to help us relax but offers many other advantages. It is more suitable for a wider number of people since it is milder and more refreshing. The steam bath not only cleanses the skin but removes impurities and moisturises as well, a major advantage in our dry climate. By raising the body temperature, you can relieve aches and pains and produce some of the benefits of exercise without moving a muscle.
How does a steam room differ from a Sauna?
Unlike a Sauna, you bathe in a very low temperature approx 40-50 degrees Celsius with a relevant humidity of 100%. This combination of soft gentle heat and high air humidity gives complete relaxation both in body and mind, strained nerves are calmed. You feel fit and revitalised after a steam bath. |
